July 2008

I tried to step from the planter onto the grass and fell. Didn't think much of it. After my nap, I couldn't put weight on it. Mom and Dad took me to urgent care on Sunday; they took x-rays; said it was a knee sprain (and pink eye). Monday I had a fever. Tuesday my regular pediatrician said I had pink eye, an ear infection, and a fever of 105. By Wednesday, we were at the emergency just in case I had an infected hip causing the fever. Turns out, I had a broken leg. Nobody would have guessed. I moved it all around, let people manipulate, was generally happy... But I still wouldn't put weight on it. Children's Hospital took more x-rays and said yep, it's broken. Within 5 minutes of the cast I was standing and super happy about it.
Oops!  What's wrong with this picture?
After 10 hours with 6 doctors and 2 sets of x-rays, they gave me this really cool cast for my broken leg. 3 weeks of no water play for me.
Elliot's new shoe
Here's the scene of the accident. Yep, you can fall from this planter onto this grass and break a leg. Who knew?
